Andreas Tolk is Professor for Engineering Management and Systems Engineering at Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia, USA. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science in 1995 from the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich, Germany. He received multiple international awards for his work. His domain of expertise is interoperability of systems and composability of models based on ontological means. He introduced the Levels of Conceptual Interoperability Model (LCIM) to categorize the different levels of interoperation of complex systems in semantic-web like environments.
