A query language is a special case of a formal language which is commonly used to specify information that is to be retrieved from some data base or ontlology. This category contains formalisms that are explicitly and primarily conceived for asking for information in this sense. Of course, any expressive ontology language can also be used to specify ("describe") information that should be retrieved from some ontology, but that should not lead to classifying all such languages also as query languages!
