[edit] Short Definition
An ontology mapping is a total functional ontology alignment, i.e., an alignment that allows for each entity of one of the ontologies (the source) to find one and only one entity in the other ontology (the target) to which it corresponds. Ontology mapping is also sometimes used as a synonym for ontology matching
Ontology mapping is a part of the Semantic Web Topic Hierarchy. It was introduced in version 1 as described in History of the Semantic Web Topic Hierarchy.
