Dresden is the capital of the German state of Saxony, beautifully located at the river Elbe. Dresden is renowned for its historic monuments and world-class museums, but also has numerous parks and beautiful spots around the Elbe that are particularly pleasant during summer time. Besides being a tourist destination, Dresden is also the location of TU Dresden as one of the major Saxon universities.
