- What is the state of the art of Semantic Web in your research field?
- application of the Semantic Web technologies is possible mainly in the (1) electronic medical records, (2) evidence-based medicine and (3) health knowledge management dimensions of the e-health common definition (source: Wikipedia)
- main benefits of semantics-enabled solutions in the context of e-health are:
- facilitation of medical data integration by processing not only the data itself, but also taking its meaning into account
- support for not only quantitaive (e.g. statistic), but also symbolic (e.g. logical) querying of the medical data repositories by means of automatic inference in the respective ontologies
- facilitation of medical knowledge management by implementation of the Semantic Web semi-automatic techniques of dynamic ontology acquisition, maintenance and exploitation
- Provide references and short abstracts of three papers you consider as significant in your research field.

- Please provide one or more examples (either business, or research, or both) in which semantic web has been used (if you can, add some references).

- Are there existing tools or demos? Please indicate some of them.

- What are the open problems in your Semantic Web research field? Why?
- efficient (semi-automatic) binding of the traditional medical data resources (e.g. natural language records or database repositories) and the respective machine readable ontologies (for instance by means of NLP and/or data mining/knowledge discovery in databases)
- integration and possible refinement of loosely designed and structured machine readable resources (either database records or already existing semantics-enabled, but not very well maintained vocabularies, such as GO)
- dynamic extension, population and meaningful exploitation of the e-health ontologies
- scalability issues (mainly concerning reasoning)
- Provide references and links of the most relevant Semantic Web research projects in your field.
