MetaGlance is a automated metadata generation web service created by Eduworks. It is free for light use, and relatively easy to use. It can gather metadata from most types of files, such as PDFs, Microsoft Word documents, Web pages, SCORM packages, and present that data to you as a JSON object.
In the case where metadata is not available or incomplete, MetaGlance uses a series of algorithms to generate metadata from the text in the file.
The types of metadata it gathers are things like: Titles, keywords, Flesch-Kincaid reading level, Text statistics, and more. New stuff is being added all the time.
