[edit] Abstract

This paper describes an ontology-based framework for technically supporting consulting agencies in accompanying an organisation's Knowledge Management (KM) implementation project. Best Practice Cases (BPCs) of successful KM introductions are captured by an ontology-based case base. A newly defined organisation's profile can be matched against existing BPCs. The most similar retrieved BPC is then returned as a recommendation, adapted to the new situation, and finally reused by the requesting organisation. The KMIR framework synergetically combines technologies of the Semantic Web with those of Case-based Reasoning. Seen from the KM point of view, the KMIR framework follows the holistic approach of a KM introduction by considering in equal measure technological, organizational and human aspects of KM, as well as the organizational culture.
