Property:Birthday

This is a string. It's the same information as property:date of birth, but due to limitations in date manipulation it seems necessary to have a separate property.

You can use Template:Born to fill in this attribute and some other attributes related to date of birth.

Instead of using this separate birthday attribute, you should be able to specify a date format in inline queries to display parts of an attribute of type date, such as month and day. This page does not work due to the following bug or missing feature in the Semantic Mediawiki software: date formatting using "display units" broke in SMW 1.0 RC1 . Whenever the software is updated, check this page again to see if the problem persists.

[[date of birth:=*%b %d]] should display birthday. The following inline query does this. This query also sets an initial sort by date of birth; note how the initial sorting order (not that by JavaScript) sorts on the underlying age rather than the month of the year. warning.pngThe date "*%b %d" was not understood.

Note that you should also be able to get the Birth Year from the date of birth using [[date of birth:=*%Y]]. Prior to SMW 1.0 RC1 you could not display the same attribute multiple times in the same query with two different formats or units.
