Property:Subclass of

From semanticweb.org
Jump to: navigation, search

Note that if you annotate MediaWiki category A with [[category:B]], you make category A a subclass of category B. SMW's semantic queries for items in category B will find items in category A, and SMW's RDF export will export this subcategory relationship as rdfs:subClassOf. So this property is redundant for categories.

See the talk page of Property:is a.

"'Human being' is a subclass of 'animal'" means: the set of individual human beings is a subset of the set of individual animals. If 'human being' is used for 'human species' and 'animal' for set of animal species, we would have "'Human being' is an instance of 'animal'".

The following query shows "subclass of" relationships, with category (if any) <ask sort="subclass of" limit=1000>+*</ask>

The following looks for the "subclass of" relationship in category pages. You get more features by saying one category is a subcategory of the other.

This page uses the semantic features of this wiki in a deprecated way. This may be due to a use of deprecated properties such as is a, or due to the fact that the intended meaning and usage of annotations is not supported by Semantic MediaWiki. Most likely, the page was set up to illustrate some feature request.

<ask sort="subclass of" limit=1000 default="Query found no subcategory-category relations using this property (good!)">+Category:+*</ask>
