Property:Swoogle hits

The attribute Swoogle hits defines the number of hits that some ontology has in the Semantic Web search engine Swoogle. More precisely, Swoogle can count the occurances of a certain namespace-prefix within its database.

To find this number, first locate the ontology with Swoogle (via the main search), and then click on "metadata" for the correct entry. The appearing page will contain a tab "related namespaces". Click on the most common namespace belonging to the given ontology to obtain a page with numbers of occurences of that namespace in the crawled documents. Add up all numbers that are above 1,000 to obtain our official number of "Swoogle hits". This is just meant to be an approximation of the actual use of the ontology, but it helps to evaluate the overall usage of the ontology on the web.
