[edit] The IJCAI-09 Workshop on Self-* and Autonomous Systems (SAS09): reasoning and integration challenges
To be held in conjunction with IJCAI 2009
Description
Autonomous systems are entities which are able to work properly without (or very limited) human intervention, especially when facing unknown environments and/or unexpected events (e.g. failures). The notion of "self-*" (pronounced self-star) systems, introduced in software engineering, is similar, making the distinction between more specific self-* properties, like self-awareness, self-adaptiveness, self-correction, self-healability, self-organization, self-repair, etc. The purpose of this workshop is to gather researchers from different AI fields in order to fill the gaps and exchange ideas about which reasoning techniques are needed for self-* and autonomous systems, and how they can be combined and integrated.
