SemFS/User Guide

The following steps describe how a basic installation of SemFS can be set up under Windows XP:

1. Download latest release of Apache Tomcat from http://tomcat.apache.org/
2. Download latest release of SemFS from http://code.google.com/p/sem-fs/downloads/list
3. Copy semfs.war into Tomcat’s webapps directory
4. Start Apache Tomcat
5. Add a new webfolder connection to network neighbourhood (in MS Internet Explorer) and enter the URL http://localhost:8080/semfs as webfolder location.
   1. In Windows XP: Go to "Network Neighbourhood", close the folder view, click on task "Add network resource/Webfolder"

The basic installation uses the directory C:\SemFs for storing its internal files. It is configured to work with a tag filter (with a small corresponding tag ontology) and the basic file class handler. These settings can be modified by altering the main configuration file semfs.conf which resides in the SemFS directory in Tomcat’s webapps directory.

For implementing own Filters and Class Handlers, please get into contact with the authors to discuss the respective requirements. This functionality is still in alpha stage and not properly documented.
