Projects

• Wikidata is a Wikimedia Foundation project to create a massive, structured, wiki-editable data source that can be used by Wikipedia as well as the outside world.
• DBpedia (link) is a community effort to extract structured information from Wikipedia and to make this information available via tools like SPARQL.

Defunct

• Semantic Wikipedia - trying to integrate Semantic MediaWiki within Wikipedia; replace by the Wikidata project
• Project Halo was an effort by ontoprise (which went bankrupt in 2012), and sponsored by Vulcan Inc., to implement user-friendly additions to Semantic MediaWiki (Halo Extension and the commercial distribution SMW+) advertising the immediate benefit of semantic technology to casual users.
