[edit] Ontologies as first-class citizens?
At VoCamp Galway 2008, several people suggested that, if semanticweb.org should serve as an entry point to the SW, it should have a more prominent link to useful ontologies on the first page. The current link was felt to be too small. Another coloured box on the right was suggested. This is how the microformats community does it, and it seems to work well.

Suggesting a tiny modesty tweak on homepage: "a" rather than "the", ie. ... "ontoworld.org, the wiki for the Semantic Web community" could become "..., a wiki for the Semantic Web community". Rationale simply that the SW community make use of several wikis (which is why SW tech appeals, ... on the SW, data is always distributed). Specifically, there is usage of the ESW wiki at W3C, of wikipedia itself, and of the FOAF wiki, ... which I'm currently migrating to use SMW. --82.32.5.17 11:46, 27 January 2007 (CET) DanBri
I do not have edit permissions for this page, otherwise I would create a link for Semantic MediaWiki --Rainer Wasserfuhr 19:48, 17 March 2006 (CET)
Call me foolish: I spotted a typo on MainPage (I ain't called Aulde Eagle Eye for nuthin' ... ok, I'm not called Aulde Eagle Eye at all, but still, you get my point) and registered in order to correct it only to find I don't have edit permission there. Sheeesch. -- bentrem
- Sorry for this. In general, this wiki can be edited without any registration. The main page, however, is editable only by wiki admins, since it has been a frequent spam target before that. --Markus Krötzsch 11:17, 25 May 2006 (CEST)
- If you find typos or want to make any improvements on Main Page, you best write them here and one of the admins will make the corrections. We apologize for the incommodities, but as Markus said: its to fight Spam. -- MovGP0 12:24, 25 May 2006 (CEST)
[edit] Spelling error
You'll note in the line "How can I search, using semantic annotations? - It is possible to search for the entered information in two differnt ways" that different is incorrectly spelled. :)
The title of the RSS feed for tools is incorrect: "Feshly" instead of "freshly".
[edit] Bad url
The link to Sourceforge is missing an "e" in the url under the news about version 0.5 being available --Charlie Huggard 19:04, 17 August 2006 (CEST)
- Thanks, I've fixed that.
[edit] Typo in news
Hi,
- I could see that the first news item contains date as 'July 5, 2005'.
- I guess it can be 'July 5th, 2007'.
- Thanks.
- With regards,

[edit] Capitalized initial letters in titles of attributes
Could someone please explain how to turn the capitalization of initial letters in titles off? I have $wgCapitalLinks set to false in MediaWiki's LocalSettings.php, and MediaWiki itself works OK (i.e., it doesnt't capitalize initials by default), but Semantic MediaWiki always capitalizes the initials of titles of pages in the "semantic" namespaces. I don't want initial letters of page titles to be capitalized. --Smw user 07:39, 15 August 2007 (CEST)
[edit] SMW bugs?
Hi,
In the last day or two, the RDF export RDF for conferences has stopped working - it produces no output. I initially thought it was because of the new redirect in ISWC2007 and ASWC2007, but removing the redirect doesn't fix things; but it might be related to that because removing the Category:Conference from the ISWC2007+ASWC2007 page does produce RDF output from that link. The output is still malformed - the FOAF namespace is declared outside an XML element.
Have there been recent changes to the Ontoworld backend which have caused these? I know there's a new release candidate for SMW: is that what Ontoworld is using? I'm not sure where to report these bugs - is there a better place than this (presumably the SMW mailing list, if it is indeed there that the problem is coming from)? -- User:InigoSurguy
[edit] meta:interwiki map
Hello. Recently we have added ontoworld: to the meta:interwiki map. As far as I can see, it doesn't introduce any conflict with the project namespace of this wiki, which is ontoworld.org:. If there is any problem unperceived, it would be great if somebody can point it out sooner, so that it can be fixed right now. Hillgentleman 20:56, 29 February 2008 (CET)
[edit] Name Change
A couple of comments about the name change.
1. Ontoworld was a distinctive name. Semantic Web is a name for a whole topic, so that if I want to refer to this wiki I am going to have to be careful not to be misunderstood. I have already made the change on Ward's wiki where I have made a page SemanticWebDotOrg
2. For how long are the links to ontoworld.org, including interwiki links, going to remain available?
Thanks

[edit] Internationalization
Will this wiki be only in English, or is there in project an internationalization, like in wikipedia? Would be nice, to help non english native speakers. Even if I understand English and studied it a lot, it takes a longer time for me to understand, and i have no enough courage to write here. Jacopo
