Talk:Project to rationalize content on former ontoworld.org
From semanticweb.org
[edit] What is the plan?
I have spent some time over the last few months implementing various examples for OntoClean. I hope that these can remain on the same wiki that also provides the information about OntoClean. One problem you may have is that these examples extend quite a long way into material which might be moved e.g. classifications of countries and geographical regions. This means that moving part of the example material would leave the OntoClean material incomplete.
I am not sure what best to do about this.

- Your examples are categorized Category:OntoClean_example, right? So they're currently on both semanticweb.org and sandbox.semantic-mediawiki.org. Either keep them on semanticweb.org in a separate category so people don't clean them out, or have the examples on sandbox.semantic-mediawiki.org and link to them from your semanticweb page. (we should have an interwiki prefix for it soon); it's your decision. It seems that sandbox.s-mw has a few more pages than semanticweb.org, talk to User:Fletchjp who's deleted some on the latter. The only problem is if your examples rely on other pages like Berlin and such that might vanish from either site: again, categorize the pages you need. -- skierpage 06:42, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- I am puzzled about the deletions as I have not done anything to it recently. I have now found several crucial deletions in the log. One of those deletions is actually Category:OntoClean_example itself. As I understand it the new sandbox is just that, for trying things out. I intended the example to stand alongside the discussion of OntoClean. I have been for many years an active person on Wards wiki, where contributions which add to knowledge and discuss it are tolerated and not deleted. Maybe your intentions for this wiki are more limited. What I have been doing here is more than just experimentation, it was setting out and working out ideas alongside OntoClean which is not my own work. If this sort of work is not appreciated here I would ask you to tolerate it on one or the other wiki while I set up one of my own. I value very much what you are doing sufficiently to give a seminar on it (see Semantic Wiki Seminar at my own university recently. BTW, fletchjp is me.
