Talk:Semantic Wiki Seminar

[edit] Building the ontology
I have been adding to the ontology of Ontoworld just by describing my relationship to this seminar and the OntoCleanPaper example. It is very easy to add new properties such as Property:writing and include an inverse. I added it because the inverse of Property:Author was Property:wrote in the past tense which did not cater for work in progress, surprising for a wiki. Other examples are property:implemented by and property:implementer of, which I put in to describe my relationship to the implementation of the OntoCleanPaper example.

[edit] Thanks for drawing our attention to OntoClean
Thanks for the links to the OntoClean paper, it is very interesting, if a little hard going. The paper points out possible misuses of inheritance (subsumption in this language), that are very similair to possible misuses in OO. It may also make clear why Chris and I had a sort of argument about properties. I suspect I was using the RDF meaning (where it is binary in nature, like qualities or attributes in this language) and he was using the alternative unary predicate definition, more akin to what it means to be a member of a class.
