Talk:Sites using Semantic MediaWiki
From semanticweb.org
Why aren't these just more pages (possibly under a suitable namespace), allowing this page to just be an {{ask}} query? Semantic wiki has no additional value if you don't express things semantically. =) --LionsPhil 17:41, 29 June 2006 (CEST)

[edit] What constitutes "using"?
While these sites do seem to have Semantic MediaWiki deployed, there are a good number that have made actually very little use of semantic Attributes and Relations. For example, BibleWiki (even though it has more pages than any other Semantic Mediawiki wiki) deploys only two (2) Attributes and only seven (7) Relations. HumanCell is even less robust -- no Attributes and one Relation. Should these wikis even be included on this list?
P.S. I must agree, this page really ought to be an ASK query. The manual updating is laborious, and there's not even uniform agreement on what constitutes a "page" in the page counts.

[edit] Searching ONLY Semantic MediaWiki sites
I have just completed a Google Co-op search tool that limits search exclusively to the following working domains that have Semantic MediaWiki deployed:

- onto.eva.mpg.de/bowiki/index.php/*

I apologize if I missed anyone, but just contact me if you feel that your Semantic MediaWiki site has been improperly excluded or defined.
(Why did I do this? I thought it might be useful for developers and editors to have a handy search tool that might help answer questions like, "How are other Semantic MW sites handling this Problem X?")
I hope it's helpful to some of you. --Centiare 23:00, 15 March 2007 (CET)

[edit] Administrative contact
I have tried to make use of some of the wikis.
[edit] One World Wiki
gives this error message:
Database error A database query syntax error has occurred. This may indicate a bug in the software. The last attempted database query was:
(SQL query hidden)
from within function "MediaWikiBagOStuff::_doquery". MySQL returned error "1016: Can't open file: 'mw_objectcache.MYI' (errno: 145) (localhost)".
[edit] MetaMathWiki
gives this:
Access forbidden!
You don't have permission to access the requested object. It is either read-protected or not readable by the server.
If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster. Error 403 www-ags.dfki.uni-sb.de Fri Jan 4 22:33:04 2008 Apache/2.0.50 (Linux/SUSE)
[edit] Northern Ireland Government Wiki
This works but is inactive and there is no way I have found to identify the administrator. This is a pity as I would be interested to see if something similar could be set up for Birmingham where I live.
I hope these comments help. --John 22:36, 4 January 2008 (CET)
[edit] Links don't work properly
There is some wicked mechanism adding /mainpage to the adress of our wiki. However, "Mainpage" does not exist, but only "Hauptseite". Hm... what can we do about that? (see: WikiProducts)
