does it really makes sense to provide converters for each possible way of writing the name of units? If so, we need also to respect the name of the units in each and every language. I don't think it makes sense and recommend to support only the Unit-Signs, but not their names. Also we should support only SI-Units and the english Units, but no old ones. Good point, I'm continuing to do it because the handling of geoarea in SMW_DT_Float supported spelled-out units. If we keep it it will require localization (already it handles kilometres/kilometers). What I don't know is whether some languages have completely different ways of writing SI unit signs like km^2; if so, then even just handling SI units will require localization support. -- Skierpage 23:48, 5 May 2006 (CEST)
