Type:Float
From semanticweb.org
This description applies to the old SMW version 0.7 The behavior is somewhat different in SMW 1.0, which ontoworld.org is running.
In SMW 1.0, you can use the new datatype Type:Number which handles integers as well as floating-point values. So in SMW 1.0, Float is obsolete, and is just an alias for Type:Number since it has the same behavior.
In SMW 0.7 and earlier, the datatype Float represented a 32-bit floating-point value, which is used for attributes that contain decimal numbers. It can be positive or negative, with thousand separators, and can have an optional exponent. For example, [[Psi beam:=4,297.31 e7]]
It allows for giving units after the number as well. Though Type:Float does not understand units (i.e. it performs no automatic conversion), a unit can be used to distinguish attribute values with different units. For example, [[Psi beam:=42 mindmelds]].
In SMW 0.6, if you provide a unit the warning message "this attribute supports no unit conversion" will clutter query results and factboxes; you can hide this warning with the CSS line
.smwwarning { display: none; !important }
You can also use or create your own type that is aware of units, see Custom units.
Because Float is just an alias for Type:Number, the following list of Properties of type “Float” is actually all properties of type “Number”.
