Understanding Data Quality Problems in the Context of the Semantic Web
A poster presentation written by Yuangui Lei, Enrico Motta and Victoria Uren. It was presented at the ESWC2007. It is about Semantic metadata, Quality framework and Semantic metadata evaluaation
[edit] Abstract
The quality of semantic metadata is important both for users of the semantic web, who need to assess the trustworthiness of sources, and for metadata providers, who need to monitor the annotation process. Considerable effort has been invested in the evaluation of ontologies at the level of classes and relations, but evaluation at the level of instances lags behind. The paper addresses this discrepancy by providing a framework for evaluating semantic metadata. It investigates the kind of problems that affect metadata with respect to data sources, the real world and ontologies. It then sketches out some practical methods to support the collection of quality metrics for these problems.
